biking with the wind blowing me...

yeah, hoping that my mind makes some sense in writing. my sense of black and white in matters relating to life and thoughts are becoming blurred - i hope not by the influence of new age but rather by the influence and my human understanding of the grace of God. i want these recordings to become a reminder of God's faithfulness in my golden days.
So, welcome my friend, let's learn together. I beckon you.

Ah Yat Abalone Restaurant

Last Sunday I had THE MOST EXPENSIVE meal of my life at this restaurant called Ah Yat Abalone. It was to celebrate the full moon of my cousin's son, who is, by default my nephew. I do not know his name. Yikes.

The list of dishes from left to right, in order, are: Roasted Crispy Suckling Pig, Mini Buddha Jump Over the Wall, Ah Yat Braised Abalone with Sea Cucumber, Stuffed Crab Shell with Sea Food, Steamed Bamboo Fish with Light Soya Sauce, Wok Fried Water Prawn, Fried Kai Lan with Abalone Sauce, Braised Noodles with Dried Scallop, Sweetened Black Sesame & Ah Yat Oven Baked Egg Tart.

Now to some comments. I don't think that I will ever spend this much for a meal, it's quite a waste, unless you appreciate the intrinsic value of the event - the gathering of relatives and families. Then again, there's no necessity to spend so much for a meal, what goes in comes out and there are cheaper options. Well, I am not complaining, just stating a personal stand.

It was a pity I don't appreciate abalones. Have you ever quietly wondered what's so great about the abalone? I always ask this when I have a chance to eat it, which has not been many occasions. The abalone was not great, although the restaurant is suppose to be famous for this dish. The after taste almost made me puke, there was a fishy end to it. Bad. I actually forced myself to finish the first piece, then did not oblige for the second. Yucks.

The egg tart was good, it better be since my cousin paid so much for it. :) Think my favourite dish for the night was actually the Stuffed Crab Shell. Best! Even my brother who does not consume seafood finished his portion! He almost gave it a miss. Could not resist after tasting a little of my portion! Hehe..

The highlight of the night was actually my family. It is so good to catch up with my cousins, whom I meet only about once a year, during the Lunar New Year. That, provided that they go home to celebrate it with us. We are not closely knitted, but I guess as we grew up, we find it a necessity to actually gather to do some fun stuff together, to be a family. Hopefully, I get to go for a backpacking trip with Siew when YWAM is over. It'll be great to get to know her better.

2 exciting events are also happening this year. My cousins' weddings! Yes, 2 of them, back-to-back!!! I absolutely have to be there for both,a must go! My calendar is already cleared for this! Keat and Ling, better be grateful! LOL. :) And thanks Ling boy for coming over yesterday. It was great to catch up with you after 23 years? ;) Even better when we share the same faith, and maybe burning passion for Father. Bless you.

thankful,
gracey
