I think I'm mad, or confused. LOL. I think I live in 2 different worlds. I'm very Chinese, yet very American in expression. Divine revelation while studying for International Management. The book says that Americans are direct in speech, in other words, blunt. That sounds just like me. Yes, I am blunt, have no qualms about asking personal questions without blinking my eyes, and I do not know where I got that from. I have been contaminated with that since donkey years ago. No wonder some people doom me for my insensitivity. Apologies people.
Culturally confused I am. LOL. ;) I guess that's what's so interesting about being confused. It makes finding out about God so much more cool, because here I am, a Chinese who is not so Chinese afterall. Wrapped up in a package and unsure of the method to open the parcel lest worms crawl out.
Textbooks are my best friends for the next 16 days, so wish me the best! =)

In other way to look u might be a straightorward person...I love American style too the way they are speaking up..
I love people that blunt in speaking up..who cares ..right as long not hurting others lah..
:)
LOL. But the thing is, we live in Asia, and in Asia, the likelihood of bluntness hurting people is like 99.8% ;)
American are blunt but tackless. Asian are overly "hintfull" (try to hint hint and hoping that u get it)and indirect but take things very personal.
As Christian we should be tackfully honest, on one hand show respect to the person because human are God's creation. Honest in telling because we love the person and want the person to improve and not be blinded by their own blind spot.
Leadership is about influence. If your first statement is so blunt and direct that it shut the person off, how are you going to gain respect from the person and influnce the person? Especially in context of mentoring! People skill is the bridge to connect with others b4 u can influence and mentor them.
conversely, I would say that americans are rather indirect. maybe not in quite the same way that asians stereotypically beat around the bush and drop hints, but indirect nonetheless. I would guess that in most cultures, the truly blunt/honest people always stand out, cause they're a minority.
That's something new to me. You'd know better since you live with them. :) Either way, I guess tact is very important. :)
