I learnt the whole of last week how important drinking water is, and how important clean usable and drinkable water is to sustenance of life. And I learnt that there are more people in the world who can be saved just by giving them access to clean, drinking water than the number of people doctors in the world can save, combined.
That struck me. Deep.
I have clean water everyday, whenever I need it. I have it in access, even in this drought plagued land of Western Australia. I have more than enough. To know that a child dies every 60 seconds because they did not get clean drinking water or use contaminated water is unthinkable. Think about the sister that I might never have, or the brother I might never have because they died of drinking contaminated water.
Poor people remain poor. They remain in the cycle of poverty. How do they come out of poverty if they have no resources, not even resources that give sustenance, like clean water?
I understand a little more about the Living Water now. And how important Living Water is to our souls - because the Living Water that has good minerals and oxygen gives Life, and life to the fullest.

darling grace,
i'm in the midst of reading a book called 'the bottom billion' by paul collier. you should read it, he explains the cycle of poverty, why the bottom billion (people) are stuck in a rut. its an eye opener.
